Who knew that removing a minor feature causes the Pokémon fanbase to be at its worst?
Nickname: NatDexers
Type: The Pokémon community at it's absolute worst
Status: Extremely Active

Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield are role-playing video games developed by Game Freak and published by The Pokémon Company and Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch. They are the first main series games in the eighth generation of the Pokémon franchise, and the second in the series to be released on a home console, the first being Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!.

Unfortunately, ever since E3 2019 when Masuda said himself that "only Pokèmon in the Galar Dex could be brought over" meaning all Pokémon outside would not be available, the entire Sword and Shield community was divided and led a mass outburst against the hatebase making them extremely toxic over this game to the point that it's like World War VIII.

Why They'll Never Forge A Path To Greatness

Some comments from YouTube mocking the lack of a National Dex, this is why the internet is almost never a good place.
  1. Let's get the elephant out of the room: they basically hate the game just because the National Dex and Pokémon outside of the Galar Region were removed.
    • The same could also applied to the removal of Mega Evoutions and Z-Moves despite that some Mega's were overused and overpowered and Z-Moves were Alola exclusive, as well as the inclusion of Dynamax which would not work well with them both in.
    • They also hate this game because it reuses animations from the 3DS games, despite the fact reusing animations is a common practice in gaming.
    • They also criticize the game being $60 just like the Kirby Star Allies Hatedom.
  2. It's mostly full of genwunners.
  3. They turned Junichu Masuda and Game Freak into a scapegoat for limiting the availability to just Pokémon that can be found in Sword and Shield, even though it was a collaborative decision with Game Freak, The Pokémon Company, and Nintendo.
    • Also, he didn't even direct the games, so the decision can't be on entirely him.
  4. They never shut up about wanting their precious National Dex back, in fact they spam #BringBackNationalDex all over Pokémon's Facebook and Twitter page, even if it has NOTHING to do with the games at all.
    • They also at point have disrespected other's victories and achievements by posting these hashtag around things like The Pokemon Card Game Tournament Winner's and even Masuda celebrating someone's wedding. (We're not kidding.)
    • Speaking of Masuda, some people even put those hashtags on his own Twitter account, they also disrespectful since alot if it is him praising fan-art or discussing his personal life. At one point, someone even spread the Bring Back National Dex trend on his birthday, causing Masuda to respond that he simply wishes to relax for at least that one day. Even he has reached a breaking point.
    • Whenever they announce more information is going to be revealed about the game, they blindly assume its the National Dex, THEY ALREADY SAID IT'S DECONFIRMED AND IS NOT COMING BACK!!
  5. They keeped asking for Game Freak to delay the game so they could fix this problem, but they ignore how much that the Pokémon series has to offer with every new generation (Anime, Trading Card Game, Merchandise, etc.), and delaying it could damage all companies that are involved with the products.
    • Also, they made a blatant and bias theory about Sword and Shield being rushed games, when these games were developed and planned after the release of Sun and Moon, also not having every Pokemon doesn't determine the games completion. Not to mention that before the reveal, fans were begging for these games to be released and got mad when they showed Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon in 2017 and the Let's Go games in 2018.
  6. They don't even give the game a chance even though it is actually good.
  7. They dislike bombed the E3 gameplay of Pokémon Sword and Shield, and they are trying to dislike bomb every video related to Pokémon Sword and Shield.
  8. They will attack and insult others who like the game and defend it, they even call them apologists for the matter.
  9. Speaking of attacking the defenders, they think everyone who is against this is asking for less content. Just because they don’t want the National Dex back (either because they are fine without it or had felt it’s not worthy for this group) doesn’t mean they want less content.
    • Also, this proves they can’t handle opinions.
  10. They won't stop complaining about the poorly modeled tree found in the Wild Area and thinks this game has Nintendo 64 graphics because of it, but they ignore everything else in the game.
  11. They go as far as wanting staff members to be fired from the series.
    • Some even want Game Freak to step out from developing the Pokémon games all together, and give the series to another developer, like Genius Soronity.
  12. Some of them also hate Little Town Hero just because Game Freak was developing it along with Pokémon Sword and Shield, and even think that Game Freak doesn’t care about Pokémon anymore, which is false. The game has become a scapegoat among some Pokémon fans as the reason why Sword and Shield only features Galar region Pokémon, accusing Game Freak of using their resources on this game instead. This is despite the fact that Toby Fox (the composer of the game) referred to this game's staff as a "very small team" and that Game Freak doesn't make the Pokémon 3D models, which was cited as the main reason for the change.
    • They also treat it as Game Freak can only develop Pokémon, they can do other games if they want.
  13. They even compared these games with a china bootleg game because according to them, the later look better.
    • Also, this proves how hypocritical they are, as they bash Sword and Shield for reusing models and animations, but are fine with other games stealing those assets and reusing them.
  14. They also had compared Game Freak to EA. Despite EA had done way worse than Game Freak had done.
    • Getting closer to the subject. they even nickname Game Freak as "Game FrEAk".
    • Not only that, but they claimed that with the revealed info on Pokemon Home and the Sword and Shield Expansion Passes that Game Freak cut content just so they could sell it back, citing it as an EA-like move. However, not only are the Pokemon themselves not paywalled, but it's possible that they planned the DLC areas beforehand and simply added the Pokemon back as a response to the backlash (not confirmed, but possible).
  15. There actions have single handily made the entire Pokemon fandom worse to the point compared to some other toxic communities, they would seem a lot healthier in comparison.
  16. The comments section in most Sword and Shield related videos including this video titled EVERYTHING WRONG WITH SWORD AND SHIELD (So Far) contains loads of hate comments and it's extremely rare to find any positive comments due to how big their hatred for the game has grown over the past few months.
  17. They won’t shut up about models for the Pokémon being reused, even though previous games are also guilty of this.
  18. They also make hate memes of Pokémon Sword and Shield just for lacking the National Dex, as well as the tree and removal of other features.
  19. Some people like DistantKingdom and TWIP on YouTube just love to spread hate by making multiple videos discussing the same problem.
  20. They are extremely blind to the fact that at some point the series would reach a point in which they couldn't support all the Pokemon and would have to end up cutting the block so they could focus on other aspects.
    • As a matter of fact, the games back then were already facing problems that had nearly left them to cut it out all together, X and Y had to cut content to add all of the Pokemon available, and Sun and Moon were very close into cutting them altogether, even with the National Dex scrapped.
    • Heck, its very likely that the pokemon not in Galar could be in the DLC or be available in the next games.
  21. Some of them are part of the SpongeBob SquarePants Fandom just because they keep making memes involving the upcoming game SpongeBob: Rehydrated (a remake of Battle for Bikini Bottom) where the game is shown to be far more superior to Pokémon Sword and Shield. The SpongeBob game won’t be out until December 2020 and Pokémon Sword and Shield might be more successful than SpongeBob: Rehydrated.
  22. They call you a conformist if you want to buy Sword or Shield.
    • Hypocrisy, they call you a conformist for wanting to buy it but they are going to buy it, where is that "conformist"?.
  23. They hate on the Gigantamax forms that were revealed because some popular Pokémon from Generation I got them, and they whine and accuse Game Freak of pandering to Gen 1/Kanto.
    • Also, speaking of Gigantamax, they bash the way to get Pikachu and Eevee Gigantamax forms by having save-data from Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee, claiming it $120 DLC when its actually a reward for players for playing the games.
  24. They claimed Game Freak lied because of the new models, even though the polygon counts of the models have been proven to be different (They said Hop's design copied Hau's from Sun and Moon, when in reality, only one animation was reused)
    • They also spam the #GameFreakLied hashtag.
  25. They exploit deaths to spread their twisted #BringBackNationalDex agenda.
  26. Their constant cyberbullying of the Game Freak developers is the reason why morale at Game Freak is at an all-time low.
  27. Some even ask Donald Trump to ban those games, We're not kidding.
  28. They write mean spirited one star reviews of the game on Amazon.
  29. They overuse the phrase "Don't ask questions, just consume product and then get excited for next product" to address anyone that makes arguments, even valid ones, in favor of the games. This further shows their inability to handle criticism.
  30. A user pretending to be a former staff member at Game Freak placed a false rape accusation against Masuda along with #BringBackNationalDex, showing that these people have no remorse.
  31. Speaking of no remorse, don't even try to call these people out on their lack of morality (such as them justifying death threats). They will immediately label you as a SJW, which is not only an incorrect usage of the term, but also is an indicator of how self-righteous they are.
  32. They claim that the reason the games sold so well is because of people who are "idiots," "shills," or "not true fans." If anything, they're the ones who aren't true fans, as they have gone to such great lengths to dehumanize Game Freak and The Pokemon Company (mainly the former) and claim this to be "the end of Pokemon." This is also incredibly insulting to the overwhelming majority of people that bought and enjoyed the games.
  33. The reveal of TemTem has only further proven their hypocrisy with them claiming that TemTem is "the new Pokemon." While it's fine to prefer one over the other, their hypocrisy lies in the fact that they criticize any small mistake they find in Sword and Shield, yet they turn a blind eye to TemTem's glaring flaws and outright praise it as though it's a flawless masterpiece.
  34. It's 2020 and they're still beating a dead horse so hard that the horse came back to life just to be like "STOP!", but they didn't listen.
  35. Even when Game Freak announced that the expansion pass will add more Pokémon that did not go out in the Galar dex before (A total of over 200 will return, 100 from each pass), they keep complaining.
  36. On the topic of the DLC, the reason they complain about it is because they wanted Gen IV remakes instead.
  37. The reveal of DLC also proved that these people are hypocrites, as they claimed that Game Freak wouldn't patch in new content with DLC and instead would make new games (similarly to Pokemon Platinum) in order to cash in on as much profit as possible. However, even after DLC for the games were revealed, they claimed that Game Freak made the DLC as a cash grab, completely going against what they initially said.
    • This is an indicator that they're potentially complaining just because the additional content isn't free, which is borderline illogical because DLC is never free, especially DLC of this magnitude.
    • They also use the excuse that the DLC should've been in the base game from the beginning even though the base game was good as is and had the amount of content that a main line Pokemon game typically has.

I think it's sad that throughout my time on Twitter, I find more and more things to add onto this page, to the point where this page has one of the highest numbers of negative points out of any fandom/hatedom page.

And unlike other pages with a large amount of negatives, this one has no redeeming qualities.

I just caught Zacian in Pokemon Sword and I really enjoyed that game. Who needs all the Pokemon when you can just enjoy all of the Pokemon in that region?

I know right. I loved Sword and Shield, and even if I didn't, I'd still be fed up with this.

Oh yeah, all this ON TOP OF the fact that they make these absurd statements about the game's content such as "you're paying a higher price for half a game" and other BS.

I was going to buy Sword or Shield (I got the latter version) regardless if this happened or not, I'm happy with what I got. This hatedom is just insane.

If it pisses off the haters, I'll buy both Sword and Shield AND each one's Expansion Pass. I have the money and I'm not really concerned about spending it on anything else right now.

I was originally not going to buy Sword and Shield due to no National Dex until I discovered those despicable actions of TWIP and everyone who bashed the game, I changed my mind on not buying it.

By absurd comparisons, it is not uncommon for someone to say that Rise of Lyric is better than Sword and Shield even though the first had a much worse development.

Minor nitpick, but Mega Audino and Mega Slowbro are actually underused and quite underpowered compared to most of the Mega Evolutions.

Also, I think it should be mentioned that they also sent Junichi Masuda death threats over this whole "no national dex" debacle.

I'm pretty sure that Pokemon like them were major threats in the tiers they were in. For example: Mega Slowbro was a massive threat in OU because it stonewalled everything with its ridiculously high defenses and Shell Armor ability to prevent it from being hit with a crit.
