Chernabog is a demon featured in the "Night on Bald Mountain/Ave Maria" segment in Fantasia. Based on the God of the Night in Slavic mythology, he emerges from the peak of Bald Mountain to summon various supernatural creatures who dance furiously as he throws then into the mountain's fiery pit. Chernabog has been praised for Disney's best representation of pure evil and is one of the most powerful villains Walt Disney has ever created thus having to appear in other media such as the 2013 Mickey Mouse shorts, Once Upon a Time, Kingdom Hearts, Disney Parks, House of Mouse, and Epic Mickey 2. For some reason, he has a toxic following.
Why They Are More Frightening Than Chernabog Himself
Some would do bad ships such as Chernabog with Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty being a prime example.
Typical cartoonaboos who overreacted when Disney actually announced that there would be a live-action movie based on the Night on Bald Mountain segment. (This is actually real)
Some of them in the comments section in that video above are nostalgists who think that Disney did a better job at hand-drawn animation compared to CGI. In fact, some would say that Disney sucks now because of CGI.
Like many Disney related fandoms, they don't realize that Chernabog is based on the God of the Night in Slavic Mythology.
Many of the fans won't stop talking about how scary the Chernabog is. Yes, we know that Chernabog is pretty frightening (especially for kids), but there is no need to shove it in anyone else's throat.
They call him the best Disney villain (in a toxic way) when other people would prefer other villains from Disney.
They even make dumb comparisons and jokes to Batman simply because they are both dark. That's like saying you compare Karel with Sephiroth.
Somehow, if you were to look up anything related to Night on Bald Mountain or Chernabog's segment in Fantasia, you will find some YouTube Commenters who comment "memes" that take up a huge bulk of the comment section.
They are right that Chernabog can be scary to younger viewers.
There is still a lot of wonderful fanart of Chernabog.
They have good reasons to like Chernabog.
They do have a point that the already-in-development live-action adaptation of Night on Bald Mountain may not be that great. Although we can't say how good it would be since it's still in development.
They are still a lot of nice fans who are willing to respect other people's opinions.
