Nappa: Vegeta, what does the scouter say about this fanbase's stupidity level and this hatebase's stupidity level?
Vegeta: IT'S OVER NINE THOUSAND!!!!
Nappa: WHAT?! NINE THOUSAND!? THERE'S NO WAY THAT CAN BE RIGHT! Vegeta: This hatedom can be toxic as well.

Dragon Ball is a Japanese Martial Arts media franchise created by Akira Toriyama and Weekly Shonen Jump. Although it's very popular, especially in the West, it has an extremely toxic fanbase that is easily one of the worst fanbases of all time. Meanwhile, it's hatebase can be toxic as well.

Why Their Toxicity Level is OVER 9000!!

Fandom

What's even the point of fighting over two fictional characters?
They just can't get along now, don't they?
It's 2020 and they still keep going...
The only thing they're good at is making up illogical arguments...
They've become parodies of themselves. Using that sign only makes it clear they can't craft a feasible argument.
So by your logic, real Dragon Ball fans act like they're superior, mistreat the creator, and call everyone who loves modern Dragon Ball "shills who eat what Toriyama throws"? Right on.
  1. The fans overexaggerate everyone's powers.
  2. This fandom is mostly full of immature teenagers and manchildren who write or rage in really poor grammar. They also love using "cancer", "autism", "retarded" and "f*ggot" as insults, which are extremely offensive. They also love to call anything "trash", "fanservice", or "money".
  3. They are known to cause a cadre of heated arguments against each other everywhere. They fight just about everything in the franchise; Transformations, plot points, power ups, power levels, characters, timelines, adaptations. You name it.
    • These fans are known to refuse backing down from an argument even if they are in the losing side, resorting to childish insults, illogical claims and trolling. It's no wonder that in every Dragon Ball video, you can find a comment with more than 50 replies, caused by heated arguments between a dichotomy of fans.
    • Many of them don't respect opinions and they treat theirs like facts, and use them in every argument they're in.
    • They mostly will try to shove whatever they have down each other's throat.
    • Many of them act superior to each other.
  4. They throw petty and childish rivalries with their favorite characters to see who is better, mainly with Goku vs. Vegeta, on characterization or power levels. They are known as "Gokutards" and "Vegetards". Even worse, these rivalries are more heated than even these two Saiyans.
  5. Excessive usage of the greater-than sign (>) against anything they dislike. Talk about biased, indeed. They'll even use more than one sign, making them more immature.
  6. Most of them exalt Goku as the strongest anime character. Disagree with them and you'll be flamed by them like a bunch of enraged Japanese giant hornets.
  7. The fans fought the ones of DC, mainly because Goku got defeated by Superman twice in Death Battle. If Superman winning was illogical (Even though it isn't) then it's Death Battle's fault, not the DC fans'.
  8. Some Dragonball fans are also part of both DC and Marvel Hatedoms, they claim that Goku either in Super Saiyan 3, in Super Saiyan God or even in Ultra Instinct form can solo both DC and Marvel universes.
    • They got salty and butthurt when Goku lost against Superman in two Death Battles.
      • Even Goku's English voice actor Sean Schemmel has said that Superman would beat Goku, showing that he's aware of the fandom's toxicity.
        • They often starts flame wars with the DC and Marvel fandoms, and this always ends in the favoritism of Dragon Ball fanboys as if this was a war between Japan and the United States during World War II, which is old news now since both of these countries are now allies. Also, in a mere coincidence of the aforementioned, DC and Marvel are both from the United States, while Dragon Ball is from Japan.
  9. They and the Sonic the Hedgehog Fandom fight over YouTube videos that pit Sonic against Goku. They 'spread like wildfire in these videos, throwing hissy fits or arrogant boasts whenever their precious character wins the fights. They congregate some of the worst comment sections to ever come out of YouTube.
  10. Many of them who don't realize that Dragon Ball was inspired by an ancient Chinese novel called Journey to the West.
    • Speaking of Journey to the West, Goku is originally known in Chinese mythology as Wukong, meaning the "Monkey King".
  11. They make terrible Dragon Ball OC's and fanfics.
    • They also includes fan-made Super Saiyan starting from 5 to 100 plus! (Super Saiyan 5 is basically a Super Saiyan version of Super Saiyan 4, but this is where it stops).
  12. Dragon Ball fanboys also complain about the movie Dragonball Evolution since it was announced and they still complain about this more than a decade since was released.
  13. They complained about Hero from Dragon Quest being in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Hero makes more sense than Goku because Dragon Quest was a Video Game first. And they said "Toriyama did the artwork for Dragon Quest so they should have put the real Goku in instead of bootleg Goku", which is really stupid.
  14. They highly overrate both the old American and Canadian Dragon Ball Z dubs, despite their outstanding flaws. They even go so far as to refer to the American dub as the only good English-language anime dub.
  15. They think Sonic: Nazo Unleashed, Super Mario Bros. Z and the actual Sonic Series itself are rip-offs of Dragon Ball because they took certain ideas from Dragon Ball (especially its sound effects for Super Mario Bros. Z and Sonic: Nazo Unleashed), when their reason for having certain ideas from Dragon ball especially its original sound effects is because they are parodies of Dragon Ball, not ripoffs.
  16. They also massively complain about the Super Saiyan form being retconned by Toriyama. They simply possess a hate-boner for characters like Cabba or Caulifla mainly because of how they achieve the Super Saiyan form, completely ignoring the fact that Goten and Trunks got the form relatively easily.
  17. They act superior to everyone!
  18. More reasons why DB Fanbase is toxic? click here.
  19. A lot of them prefer to skip the Original Dragon ball series in favor to the sequel Dragon Ball Z because they believe that the original series is too boring which is not.
  20. The Dragon Ball Z Fandom are so toxic that they have their own page.
  21. There are also fanboys of Dragon Ball Super, while not as vocal or commonplace as the DBZ purists, they are still this obnoxious nonetheless, overpraising the show despite its outstanding flaws, with some hating on the original anime immaturely.
  22. The fandom and the fighting game community overrate the series' fighting games like Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 and Dragon Ball Fighter Z, as they hate others like Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite.
  23. They also attack anyone who hates DBFZ/XV2.
  24. The fans can be sexist, as they have this belief that only boys like the Dragon Ball franchise. There are girls that love it too.
    • It isn't even helping that they overpraise the Ocean Dub cast all the while they hate shows featuring this very same cast, like My Little Pony.
  25. It doesn't even help the fact that there are nostalgia-brats in the video game side of Dragon Ball. They all glorify the Budokai and Budokai Tenkaichi games and insult the current Dragon Ball games.
  26. They complain about Dragon Ball Z Budokai HD Collection for not having Budokai 2 and the Soundtrack of Budokai 1&3 getting replaced by music from the Tenkaichi Trilogy, Raging Blast 1, Tenkaichi Tag Team and Ultimate Tenkaichi. The reason why Budokai 2 is not in the HD Collection is because the developers felt that it had elements that sort of broke off the fighting aspect, and the reason why the music was changed is because the original works by Kenji Yamayoto was Plagirized (Stolen note for note) E.G Move Forward Fearlesly, Challangers and Warrior from an Unknown land sounded similar to Glory of the World, Hunting High and Low and Infinity by Stratovarious
  27. The outright bashing of certain characters like Yamcha. Yes he is now for comedic purposes. But the fanfics made (like portraying Yamcha as a rapist) or Youtube videos often are not funny and come out as more mean spirited.
  28. The nostalgiatarded portion of this fandom mistreat Akira Toriyama, accusing him of being lazy and greedy, all because of Dragon Ball Super and other retcons. While he did have some flaws and can be criticized for it, it's still inexcusable to bereave him like this. This shows how much of ungrateful, snobbish manchildren they are.
    • Speaking of Toriyama, they want him to retire or die before he keeps "ruining the stuff from the past" as they claim. It's his franchise and he has power over it. Without him, Dragon Ball wouldn't exist.
  29. They even despise Toei Animation for creating Dragon Ball Super, and Dragon Ball Heroes, and yet they may like other anime like One Piece or Fist of the North Star.
  30. They blasted a Death Beam on The Anime Community, inflicting severe damage.
  31. In terms of Opinion Lashing, they are some of the worst offenders of all opinion lashers in the internet, as is the Anime Community.
  32. They also constitute some of the most foul-mouthed communities in the YouTube comment sections and in the IMDb Message Boards.
  33. It's 2020 and the fanbase still hasn't improved as a community and its behaviour only kept exacerbating.
  34. The Western fanbase, mostly Dub fanboys who watched the 99 English dub or the Funimation dub of any Dragon Ball anime, insult Masako Nozawa just because she voices Goku and Gohan as adults, labeling her with ageist, homophobic or sexist insults such as "granny", which is extremely disrespectful as she's already an elderly person in her 80s, and proves more of the western fans' petulance.
    • They also insult the other Japanese voices for no reason.
  35. To rub more salt to the wide, gaping wound, the fanbase's name got even more besmirched after the huge controversy with Vic Mignogna, as Social Justice Warriors began taking over and corrupting Funimation Entertainment, starting with Monica Rial, who had them firing the man over stupid allegations. In repercussion, Obsessive Anti-SJWs began raking into the community in its wake, posting misogynistic and obnoxious comments across the Web. Although Funimation going woke is a bad thing, these obsessive trolls aren't making the situation any better either.
  36. There's too many Canon Claimers in this continuity, especially the nostalgia-tarded portion, who claim that the old canon is the "true canon", and lash out on Toriyama's established lore.
  37. They have become incredibly resentful of how Toriyama retroactively explained the Super Saiyan form and become furious with characters like Caulifla mainly because of how they achieve the transformation. In fact, they'll feed you dumb excuses if you like these characters.
  38. The Goku vs. Sonic debate, that's what's needed saying.
  39. Omari Pantin is considered to be a big time toxic Dragon Ball fan.
  40. They love to circlejerk this franchise everywhere they go, especially the classic fanboys.
  41. Some of them call Steven Universe a rip-off of Dragon Ball. Cue the facepalm!
  42. Three words, Dragon Ball Hell. Unless you love shitposting, toxic fanboys and cringy memes, you don't want to go in.
  43. Two words: Fusion Wars. They fight nonstop about which of the fused characters, mainly Gogeta and Vegito, are stronger or better.

Hatedom

  1. A lot of them are Anime Elitists, edgelords and Manchildren who hate it because it's overrated and try to act Superior to others.
  2. They give Dragon Ball a bad reputation.
  3. They can even disrespect the fans of the show.
  4. Most of them hate it because of the Fandom, which is a very stupid excuse for hating something.
  5. Some of them even make Hate memes of the franchise, mostly about Dragon Ball Super.
  6. They were easy to find on the now-defunct social network Google+ since there were hate groups of Dragon Ball on Google+ which were full of hate memes.
  7. They can be nitpicky and/or biased while talking about the show and the characters, which isn't surprising.
  8. They depise Goku to insane levels like if he was one of Satan's minions.
  9. Some of them hate Goku just because it is overrated and there are stronger characters than him.
    • They even exalt characters who are stronger than Goku.
  10. They even blame Akira Toriyama for creating it.
  11. They think that every character that they know or like is stronger than Goku, despite that there are characters that can't defeat Goku like Kenshiro from Hokuto no Ken or Naruto Uzumaki.
  12. Some of them think that Dragon Ball is a rip-off of Hokuto no Ken despite that both shows have a lot of differences.
  13. They even call Goku a rip-off of Superman!
  14. Some of them ignore the good qualities that Dragon Ball has, sure, it has flaws but ignore the good qualities isn't good.
  15. Some of them are Moral Guardians and Religious Nut-Jobs who think that Dragon Ball is satanic.
  16. Speaking of Moral Guardians, them along with SJWs and radical feminists hate it because of the fanservice in the first Dragon Ball series.
  17. Some are toxic One Punch Man fans and Sonic fans because of the Saitama vs Goku and Sonic vs Goku debates.
  18. Some are also Vic Mignogna haters because he voiced Broly in the series.
  19. Some may be toxic China haters because of the show being influenced by the chinese culture.

Redeeming Qualities

Fandom

  1. Some DB fans draw good and decent Fan-art of characters as well as Fanfictions (like Malik's Dragon Ball New Age and YoungJiji's Dragon Ball AF), even some did a lot of effort on them.
    • Also there are a lot of fans who love the franchise they would like to cosplay them too.
  2. Some of them have a good opinion and can take criticism.
  3. Geekdom101 is a popular example of a healthy and respectable Dragon Ball fan, (though he has toxic followers, especially his other channel) He exposed the flaws of the old DBZ dub and showed how much of an improvement Kai really is. Even the cast and crew of both shows agree with him.
  4. They have good reasons why Dragon Ball Z Budokai 3 is one of the Best DBZ Games Ever Made.
  5. Some Dragon Ball fans do good and decent AMVs and Fanmade Openings
  6. They have a point about Dragonball Evolution being a bad film. They also have a point about Dragon Ball GT not being very good.
  7. They have a point about Dragon Ball Z Ultimate Tenkaichi, Taiketsu, Ultimate Battle 22, Dragon Ball Z: Sagas, Dragon Ball Z for Kinect, and Dragonball Evolution being bad games.
  8. According to Toriyama, the Japanese Fandom of Dragon Ball is great. Meaning that the Japanese DB fans are better than the western fans. Not only that but also shows that Akira Toriyama himself knows about the toxic behavior of the western fans.
    • Speaking of that, there are also mature western DB fans.
  9. At least there are some fans who agree Goku (Dragon Ball) would be a terrible choice for a Smash Bros. game, considering he originated from manga and don’t want him in.
  10. With all its toxicity, at least the fanbase of Dragon Ball Super is more tolerable, as they are a bit less toxic in YouTube than DBZ purists found in DBZ videos.
  11. At least the Dragon Ball fighting game community is more civil in videos of modern Dragon Ball games, such as Dokkan Battle.
  12. They do have a point about Dragon Ball GT and Dragon Ball Super (the first two arcs especially) being flawed. But still.
  13. The Western fanbase stood up in Vic Mignogna's behalf and began a fight against the SJW threat that tarnished Funimation in defense of the man.
  14. Some do have points why Masako Nozawa's voice can be annoying, especially today's Dragon Ball media.
  15. Many Dragon Ball memes are very funny, like the legendary "IT'S OVER 9000!!!" meme.
  16. Some of the fans who used to be toxic in the past have matured now.
  17. They paid respects to many voice actors who passed away Hiromi Tsuru (Bulma's voice actor), Luis Alfonso Mendoza (Gohan's Mexican voice actor), Brice Armstrong (Ginyu's voice actor and narrator of Dragon Ball Z), Unsho Ishizuka (Hercule's voice actor), Hiroshi Masuoka (Master Roshi's voice actor), etc.
  18. At least the fans of the original Dragon Ball are somewhat less toxic compared to Z or GT.

Hatedom

  1. Some of them can respect people who like Dragon Ball.
  2. Some of them have valid reasons to dislike Dragon Ball and have good arguments about the flaws of the show.
  3. Fans of characters stronger than Goku can be civil towards Goku fans.
  4. Some of them know that there are characters who can not defeat Goku.
  5. Many of them have calmed down when Dragon Ball Super ended.
  6. They are right about the Dragon Ball Fandom being toxic.
  7. At least they are right that Goku is unlikely to be in Super Smash Bros.
  8. They have good arguments about the Cell saga, the Buu saga, Dragon Ball GT and Dragon Ball Super being flawed.
  9. At least many of them respect the voice actors who have worked on the show, as well the ones who had passed away.
  10. Hate Art is very hard to find.
  11. Like the Fandom, they are right about some video games based on Dragon Ball being bad, as well the movie Dragonball: EvolutionAMW being bad.

It may be ironic that some Dragon Ball haters like Tekken and KillLaKill which have references to Dragon Ball (Kazuya Mishima (Tekken) and Satsuki Kiryuin (KillLaKill) are similar to Vegeta, Ryuko has a Super Saiyan-like transformation).
