Looks like the toxic fans and haters are going to have some bad dreams.
Company Fandom and Hatedom
DreamWorks Animation LLC (aka DreamWorks in simple terms) is an American animation studio and a subsidiary of Universal Pictures, itself a subsidiary of Comcast's NBCUniversal. It is based in Glendale, California, and produces animated feature films, television programs, and online virtual games. Originally formed as a division of DreamWorks Pictures in 1994 by some alumni from Amblin Entertainment's former animation branch Amblimation, it was spun off into a separate public company in 2004. DreamWorks Animation currently maintains its Glendale campus, as well as satellite studios in India and China. Not even this movie company is safe from a toxic fandom and hatedom.
It seems like they cannot tolerate other people's views of the company.
Judging by its name, they focus on the animation studio alone instead of the original DreamWorks Pictures.
They go into heated debates over how some of the movies are similar to some non-DreamWorks film thus accusing them of being rip-offs or not. Like what they would do to ANTZ and A Bugs Life, Turbo and Cars, and The Road to El Dorado and The Emperor's New Groove. Basically, it's The Simpsons vs Family Guy wars all over again.
A lot of them came from the Vyond Community as they're seen making grounded videos, dead meat videos and other Vyond-related videos of certain characters such as some of the DreamWorks villains such as Dave from Penguins of Madagascar, King Tut from Mr. Peabody & Sherman, Captain Chantel DuBois from Madagascar 3 and Lord Farquaad from Shrek.
Many of them start warfare with other animated movie studio fandoms such as Disney, Nickelodeon Movies, Sony Pictures Animation, Illumination and Studio Ghibli. Also, just don't get us started with how they also have bad blood with these movie studios when referring to the Oscars.
Depending on the movie, they love to exalt some movies DreamWorks made. However, this only happens on some movies rather than the entire DreamWorks library of movies. Either way, it's still annoying.
On the flip side of the coin, they diss too much on some DreamWorks movies that they hate such as notably The Boss Baby and Shark Tale.
If there's going to be a discussion of a possible sequel to any DreamWorks movie, they would be impatient and try to make DreamWorks work on the sequel by writing petitions or anything similar. This is extremely shown when you mention anything like How To Train Your Dragon 4, Rise of the Guardians 2, Madagascar 4, Bee Movie 2, and Shrek 5.
Every time a DreamWorks movie gets canceled or goes through development hell, they would riot over a cancelation of a movie when they don't understand that not every movie is going to hit the big screens and would have a reason to end production. Just look up anything related to things like B.O.O: Bureau of Otherworldly Operations, Me and My Shadow, and Larrikins.
When there is anything like Top Ten Favorite/Best DreamWorks movies, they would get butthurt if they don't see a movie they like on the list when they don't understand that not everyone has to like some movies and they are entitled to an opinion. Here's a good example.
Nostalgiatards, edgelords, and elitists are still at bay in this fandom because they think that DreamWorks only makes sequels or "kiddy movies" nowadays. Even though DreamWorks can still make a good movie, they are still ungrateful.
Because of DreamWorks doing some traditionally animated films (like Spirit or The Prince of Egypt), nostalgiatards who adore hand-drawn animation will still complain about DreamWorks not making a lot of those movies.
When Comcast decided to buy DreamWorks, they started to get upset over the fact that another company is buying DreamWorks. This is proof that they can't accept changes that go on during DreamWorks.
They do picture themselves as DreamWorks fans, but it's ironic since they would only care about certain movies or a certain era of DreamWorks. In fact, they started to claim that DreamWorks is now going down just because of the modern era not being like some of the more previous years or eras.
They ignore that some DreamWorks films are supposed to be based on some things like Shrek, Rise of the Guardians, and How to Train Your Dragon is based on books (yes, these movies are based on books).
Many of them fail to recognize the talents the people involved with DreamWorks outside of DreamWorks. They just exalt some actors/actresses and the artists who work on the music to no end without understanding that they also work on other movies.
If they do find out, they will go bananas.
Since we did mention the Oscars, they always get pissed off over the fact that most DreamWorks movies have gotten nominations instead of an Oscar. They just ignored that you don't need an Oscar to be a good movie since a good movie is a good movie.
Speaking of the Oscars, they got pissed off when The Boss Baby was shown at the Oscars. Even though Coco won the Oscars in 2018.
Many are shown to have vengeance towards the critics for giving some legit reviews of any movie. Even if the criticism is good, they will still make a huge fuss.
They are mostly Disney and Pixar fanboys who are toxic as usual. This also applies to other movie studios as well such as Illumination, Sony Pictures Animation and Nickelodeon Movies.
Some used to be former fans of DreamWorks, but they turned back just because of a certain movie (like The Boss Baby). How immature and poor since not every movie has to be on their own image.
They use some DreamWorks related products (like The Boss Baby, Shark Tale, DreamWorksTV, etc.) as an excuse to dislike DreamWorks. Oh come on, DreamWorks does more than just what you hate.
Some of them blame Steven Spielberg for founding DreamWorks just because they think that Steven was competing with Disney. How ungrateful they are since those are just movies. Also, they just ignore that Steven wasn't the only one who founded DreamWorks (Jeffrey Katzenberg and David Geffen also did).
They dislike DreamWorks for being repetitive like having the same type of humor (parody references and toilet humor). Just because it uses that type of humor over again does not mean that the movie is bad since some can still do good. Yes, DreamWorks isn't perfect, but there is no need for it. Also, they would like some non-DreamWorks products that also feature that humor as well. Double standards much?
Ironically enough, they don't seem to mind some non-DreamWorks franchises being repetitive (even to extreme levels) like FIFA or Call of Duty.
They loathe so much on how expensive a DreamWorks movie would cost. So with that said, they just ignore that budget is important for a movie because making a movie isn't always easy and a low budget movie can create poor results.
They make hate memes of the studio such as this (It's best to zoom in) and this.
They detest DreamWorks for having some adult actors voicing kid/underaged characters which sounds like an agest reason to dislike DreamWorks. They also forget that even a lot of studios can feature actors/actresses to voice underaged characters such as Tara Strong for instance (she voiced Lemmy Koopa and Iggy Koopa from The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3 and the Super Mario World cartoon, Bubbles from The Powerpuff Girls, Timmy, and Poof from Fairly OddParents, Raven from Teen Titans, Roshan from Ice Age, Terrance from Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, Ben from the original Ben 10 series, etc.). How hypocritical!
Moral Guardians would get ugly when they found out that DreamWorks would have some hidden jokes in their movies such as "Do you think maybe he's compensating for something?" or something as recent as the cupcakes scene from Trolls. No joke.
How They Can Reach For The Moon
You can still find some good fans and haters of DreamWorks if you are able to dig deeper.
Some do know that there is more to DreamWorks than just the animation studio.
