Character Fandom and Hatedom
Marth is the main character of Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem. He is the first main character of the Fire Emblem series to exist since his debut in Shadow Dragon, leading him to be the mascot of the series. At first, Marth's Fire Emblem titles were only Japan-exclusive at the time, he had gotten more widespread international attention when he joined Super Smash Bros. Melee thus giving Western players interest in the Fire Emblem series, and it Nintendo began releasing the games internationally beginning with Blazing Blade. a sorcerer named Gharnef managed to revive Medeus in order to conquer almost all of Archanea. Marth has spent two years in exile in the remote island kingdom of Talys with his future wife, Cadea. He works for Princess Nyna of the Holy Kingdom of Archanea to unite the defeated human kingdoms into an army to fight back against Medeus and his empire Dolhr. In Mystery of the Emblem, it takes place three years after the events of the first game where Marth is confronted by a former friend and ally, Hardin who was corrupted by Gharnef. after the Emperor of Archanea conquers Altea and accuses Marth a traitor, Marth and his allies go on a journey through Archanea's wilderness and follow he legendary path once taken by his descendent, Anri. He also learns about the true history of dragons and their role in shaping the history of Archania. Marth was also given the task of repairing the titular Fire Emblem shield in or to seal away a malevolent species of earth dragons. While Marth was well received, he also had gotten a toxic following and haters as well.
In order to address one of the main problems, they make some dumb ships related to Marth such as Marth x Ike or Marth x Roy simply because they appeared in titles like the Super Smash Bros. series or Fire Emblem Heroes. First off, Ike and Roy do not appear in Shadow Dragon or Mystery of the Emblem so why ship them with Marth? Also, Marth already as a love interest in the form of Caeda.
Some may be part of the Catria (Fire Emblem) Fandom when they would ship Catria with Marth. While Catria does appear in the Archanea games as Marth does, they fail to realize that Marth already has a love interest as mentioned before. Also, Catria having an unrequited love (a love that is not openly reciprocated or understood as such by the beloved) towards Marth does not help. The same can be said about some shipping Marth with Adult Tiki.
They even ship Marth with Lucina, despite that Lucina is Marth's descendant.
Typical fangirls who even ship themselves with Marth. You can't just fall in love with a fictional character.
They only like Marth because of his appearance in Super Smash Bros. It takes more than an appearance in a crossover game to like a character.
Some would spam "Minna Miteite Kure" which gets old quickly.
Before Shadow Dragon got a western release on the Nintendo DS, some would try to give Marth a fan-made personality which does not make any sense at all.
His fangirls only like him because he is handsome. That is like saying you only like the Tenth Doctor from Doctor Who because he is handsome.
Whenever someone draws Marth shirtless, they will go nuts for it!
Some even started mocking Roy fans because of how Roy was cut in Brawl.
Overuseage of the Marth says meme.
They Super Smash Bros. community freaked out when Marth is voiced by Yuri Lowenthal in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. They don't even realize that Yuri had voiced Marth before. (i.e. Code Name: S.T.E.A.M., Fire Emblem Fates, Fire Emblem Heroes)
They call Marth dumb names such as "Generic nice guy protagonist" which does not make any sense.
Some used to like him during the Melee days, but they turn their backs to him when he was nerfed.
Some are part of the Ike and Roy fandoms who toxicly prefer those characters compared to Marth.
They fail to realize the Marth is the first existing main character from the first existing Fire Emblem game.
Some would think that Lucina is the new face and mascot of the Fire Emblem series simply because she "fits the ideals of Waifu Emblem" which does not make any sense.
Ironically enough, some would ignore him instead of hating on him. How do you hate a character if you just ignore him?
They hate Marth for being overrated. That is like saying you hate Mario for being everywhere.
They hate him because of his fans. Just because his fandom is bad does not mean that you get to hate on Marth.
They use his English voice as an excuse to hate him.
They hate Marth because of his hair. What the fridge?
They hate him because he can't promote, but that was barely noteworthy in FE1, not that unusual in FE3, and not terrible in 11/12 because he still got 10 more levels even though he lacked a promotion boost.
