Status: Extremely Active

Mortal Kombat is a media franchise centered on a series of video games, originally developed by Midway Games' Chicago studio in 1992. The development of the first game was originally based on an idea that Ed Boon and John Tobias had of making a video game starring Jean-Claude Van Damme, but as that idea fell through, a fantasy-themed fighting game titled Mortal Kombat was created instead. Mortal Kombat was the first ever fighting game to introduce a secret fighter, reached if the player fulfilled a set of requirements. The original game has spawned many sequels and spin-offs consisting of several action-adventure games, films (animated and live-action with its own sequel), and television series (animated and live-action), as well as a comic book series, a card game and a live-action tour. Along with Street Fighter and Tekken, Mortal Kombat has become one of the most successful fighting franchises in the history of video games and one of the highest-grossing media franchises of all time. While the franchise and most of the fandom is good, the fanbase does have a toxic side.

Why 25% of The Fandom Should Be Finished!

  1. Many of them are edgelords, who overrate Mortal Kombat because of its ultra-violence and bash other games that are not ultra-violent or edgy.
  2. They are a huge part of the Smash Bros. hatedom and hate it just because it's for kids, in fact, some users on TheTopTens say that Smash is a rip-off of Mortal Kombat', which is not true.
  3. They are part of fandoms of M-rated games, or they start flame wars with these fandoms.
  4. They also seem to blindly hate on nearly all kid-friendly games and call people who like them "Little kids" when some of those people are literally adults!
  5. Hypocrisy: despite being a big part of the Smash hatedom, Scorpion still gets requested a lot for the game! Which also has near no chance of happening since the games are now banned in Japan, not a lot of people in Japan heard of this game, and Nintendo is a Japanese company.
  6. They treat Mortal Kombat 2 and Mortal Kombat 2011 as the best fighting games of all time and the best Mortal Kombat games ever made.
  7. They bashed Mortal Kombat Armageddon, Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe and Mortal Kombat 11 as the worst games that killed the franchise even though Armageddon and MK11 are actually good.
  8. They're part of the American Video Game Fandom.
  9. They obsess over the first Mortal Kombat movie of 1995 as a "masterpiece".
    • If you say you liked Mortal Kombat Annihilation, they'll bash you really hard.
  10. They exalt Shao Kahn as the best video game villain of all time and the god of all evil.
    • They also glorify Mileena to death, as they keep on tweeting Ed Boon to add her in Mortal Kombat 11.
      • Not only that, but some fans also tweet him to add classic stages in MK11 as well.
  11. They have a huge hater boner for some characters like D'Vorah.
  12. They kept on asking for Shaggy to be in Mortal Kombat 11 because of the Ultra Instinct Shaggy Meme when there is 0% of that happening because the game is too mature to have memes as guest characters!
  13. They use "cancer", "autism", and "retarded" as insults.
  14. They not only finished the gaming community, but the meme community as well with two lines such as "TOASTY!" and "GET OVER HERE!!".
  15. Many of them treasure the 3D era Mortal Kombat games continuously.

Times They Won the Fight (Redeeming Qualities)

  1. Not all fans are like this. Some actually like E Rated and M Rated games. Some even like Smash Bros and Mortal Kombat at the same time.
  2. As stated above, this only applies to 25% of the fandom.
  3. At least they get a point that Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe is average or decent (despite the positive reviews).
  4. Some realize that while the first Mortal Kombat movie of 1995 is a good movie, it's still not a masterpiece. They also have a point that Mortal Kombat: Annihilation is a terrible movie.
  5. 75% of the fandom is mature, with fans like MrGSTAR321. You can find the them on Healthy Fandoms And Hatedoms wiki
  6. They do have a point about the “It’s made for kids” excuse being pretty stupid.
  7. A lot of them make great fanart.
  8. Not all fans exalt Shao Kahn like a religious figure. And not all of them hate D'Vorah either and some have good reasons to hate her, some can even be fans of her as well.

Good one, and have any of the Mortal Kombat characters do their Fatalities, usually the most gruesome Fatalities they have in their arsenal.

Yes. But don't forget about those in Mortal Kombat 11, because those are just as violent as those in Mortal Kombat X.
