As long as we work together, we can save any fandom and hatedom. That's what I think, anyway.
Character Fandoms and Hatedoms
Roy is the main character of Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade and the son of Eliwood who was one of the main characters of The Blazing Blade. His first appearance was in Super Smash Bros. Melee because he was there to promote his own game. Ever since he appeared there, both Marth and Roy made a greater level of Western interest in the Fire Emblem series and it encouraged Nintendo to release the series internationally with the first one being Blazing Blade. He makes a brief appearance at the end of Eliwood's route in that game and was a childhood friend of Hector's daughter, Lilina. In The Binding Blade, however, Roy was only at the age of 15 in Binding Blade's beginning. Roy was forced to return home when Bern begins its invasion, however, Eliwood can't fight due to sickness thus leading Roy to command his growing army against the forces of King Zephiel. He too is not safe from a toxic fandom and hatedom.
They even hate Roy simply because of his stats as a playable unit in The Binding Blade where people would say "you have to protect him in the game until the near end." His stats do not dictate the quality of the character.
They are sometimes unaware that Roy won first place on a popularity poll for Binding Blade hosted by Nintendo's Japanese website and some Japanese players appreciate the quality of him.
