Spyro: Where's my toxic fandom? I'll torch them!
Type: Video Game Fandom
Status: Active

Spyro is a series of platform video games that feature the protagonist Spyro the Dragon himself. Since the series' introduction in 1998 with the PlayStation game Spyro the Dragon, there have been numerous sequels and spin-offs. Originally owned by Universal Pictures (via the defunct Universal Interactive) and created by Insomniac Games, the franchise has changed hands and developers numerous times before the rights to the intellectual property were acquired by Activision in 2008, much like the Crash Bandicoot series. The series spawned a toys-to-life spin-off, Skylanders, the first of which was released in 2011. Spyro is considered to be one of the most recognized video game characters of all time and earned its title as one of PlayStation's unofficial mascots (along with Crash Bandicoot), but that didn't stop the fandom from being attacked.

Why Spyro Isn't Afraid of Them!

  1. When Spyro Reignited Trilogy came to existence, they started to nitpick on some changes. Even for the ones that sound lame such as some animations being changed or the new music in the remake.
  2. There are some users who would try to burn down people who dislike Reignited or one of the older games. No wonder you find a lot of nostalgiatards who only care about the first three games just like these fandoms. As a result, they start arguments on which Spyro incarnation is the best.
  3. Out of all the games, they started to take their hatred towards Skylanders and Legend of Spyro too seriously just because it isn't the original series. They mainly hate the former and will forbid anyone who likes any of these games, especially Skylanders.
  4. The Reingted Trilogy "required content download" debate. No explanation needed. Besides, they do realize that they are not the boss of Activision or Toys for Bob.
  5. They have a hatred towards Activision and keeps wanting Sony and/or Insomniac Games to bring back the rights of Spyro which sounds way too far fetched. This is why you guys don't work in the gaming industry and tell people what to do.
  6. There are too many shipping wars involving Spyro x Elora and Spyro x Cynder thinking that either one of these ships is the true ship. Well, did they just forgot that each Spyro incarnation is different from the other and Elora only appeared in the original series and Cinder only appears in The Legend of Spyro series? Even Cynder is shown to be a primary love interest of Spyro in The Legend of Spyro series. Please take a look.
  7. The moderntards are not any better since they stereotype people who grew up with the original trilogy elitists or manchildren which is stupid. Not every classic Spyro fan acts like this and some may like the newer games or have a legit opinion on other Spyro incarnations. This visual representation will show you.
  8. Some original Spyro fans call them true Spyro fans or refer to the original as true Spyro fans which is idiotic. You see, a healthy fan would accept what Spyro has gone through and can respect what each Spyro brought on the table.
  9. Some OCs that the fanbase makes are just recolors of Spyro. Just look it up yourselves.
  10. Some of them are edgelords because of The Legend of Spyro series.
  11. They claim that Activision killed Spyro when it's not true. Besides, Spyro is still got some newer games and appearances such as the Reignited Trilogy or Spyro, Hunter, and Gnasty Gnorc appearing in Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled.
  12. They can be pretty hypocritical like they like/are okay Sanzaru games for being involved in Spyro Reignited Trilogy yet they trash so much on the company for being involved in the Sonic Boom games and Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time. Though the Sonic Boom games were actually bad compared to Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time.
  13. They would even argue with the Crash Bandicoot Fandom since both were the unofficial mascots if the original Sony PlayStation, and that both series had remakes of their respective trilogies.

What Makes Some Fired Up

  1. If your lucky enough, there are some good fans who don't act like brats.
  2. Some may have honest views on each of the Spyro games regardless if they like it or not.
  3. They do have a point that Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly is a bad game.
  4. They can still make some good artwork, remixes, and cosplays.
  5. They were not that bad until Skylanders came to existence.
