Google+ was a social media platform owned and operated by Google. It was launched in 2011 in order to compete with other social media networks and for a time linked other Google products like Blogger and YouTube. The service experienced strong growth in its initial years, although usage statistics have varied depending on how the service is defined. Google+ features the ability to post photos and status updates to the stream or interest-based communities, group different types of relationships (rather than simply "friends") into Circles, a multi-person instant messaging, text and video chat called Hangouts, events, location tagging, and the ability to edit and upload photos to private cloud-based albums. Due to low user engagement and disclosed software design flaws that potentially allowed outside developers access to personal information of its users, Google+ was closed in April 2019. Eventually almost all Google+ users ended up moving to MeWe where the community is semi-active. During its days when it was alive, it spawned an atrocious community.
Why They Were Toxic
Many of the users consist of nostalgiatards, moderntards, edgelords, manchildren, tryhards, elitists, weeaboos, toxic otakus, toxic bronies, toxic pegasisters, normies, trolls, terrorists, perverts, sexist people, dumb children, immature pre-teens, incels, racists, homophobic people, xenophobic people, transphobic people, toxic vegans, immature teenagers, cartoonaboos, raiders, kink shamers, art thieves, cyberbullies, animal abusers, incest shippers and bait posters.
It was home to many toxic fandoms and hatedoms that could not respect users' views on media or having some serious problems.
Some users take things way too seriously. They would create polls or posts that are there to troll or bait people.
Speaking of which, they also posted some offensive and outrage baiting memes about video games, songs, anime, etc.
Many of them cause so much drama to the point that they will cause a lot of flame wars.
Some would even try to raid a community. The reason being is because either a moderator penalized the wrong person, trolls hacked the community or moderator's account, or even a users strong hatred towards a community.
For example the Dank Memes community. Dank Memes community was the most popular community of Google+. Not only it's popular, it has been the most raided community by a lot of Trolls.
A lot of users are known to spam memes on comments sections such as reaction pics from various media, memes that were trending during Google+'s time (like Ugandan Knuckles, Momo, Harambe, Steamed Hams, Clorox Bleach, Justice for Waluigi, Shrek, etc) or the infamous "Delet This" memes. One example is a stick figure character named Bob.
Many of them are known for harassing and sending death threats to people who do not agree with their opinions, popular or not.
Trolls are more rampant on Google+. They could go onto your profile page and post some of the dumbest trash ever or even try to impersonate you. There were even some trolls that can attempt to dox you by acquiring either your IP or your real-life address.
Many trolls have gained a lot of attention and became infamous such as The Christian Girl, IM Honest Hank, antihater foxy, and Puritans.
The community was so out of control that many good users such as Dishoungh White left the website because of the bad qualities.
They make a lot of dumb communities such as the Anti-Fairy Tail community, "Hell", Anti-Donald Trump, or even "Get All Google+ Users in one group". We are not making it up.
They make a lot of stupid, nonsensical, weird, cringey, offensive and gross posts such as the infamous "I am helf me foxy" or anything NSFW.
They use a lot of cuss words to the point that they try way too hard being edgy. most notably "f*gs" and "n word".
They cried like babies when they found out that Google+ is shutting down. Not everything lasts forever.
There was even petitions to save Google+. Petitions do not work like that guys!
They treat Google+ like if it was some church or a religion.
They would blindly hate on other social media websites like Facebook and Twitter.
A lot of attention hogs who post stuff like "reshare/repost if you love *insert anything here*".
Some even did online dating.
It had users that even supported neo-Nazism/Alt-Right and Communism. No joke.
At least Google+ didn't have so much Social Justice Warriors and Pedophiles.
Some civilized and rational users did exist. These include good artists, funposters and sane cartoon/gaming/anime fans.
Some accepted that it has problems.
There were good communities on the site.
Without this site, there wouldn't be many helpful users and good people and artists.
Some do understand why Google+ shut down.
They do have valid points about Google+'s flaws such as the generic Android layout of 2017 or when it was nearly killing YouTube.
