Uncharted is an action-adventure game series developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment for the PlayStation consoles. The series centers a treasure hunter named Nathan Drake who travels across the world to uncover various historical mysteries. The first game in the series titled Uncharted: Drake's Fortune was released on November 19 of 2007 with the last installment Uncharted 4: A Thief's End was shown on the PlayStation 4 in 2016. A prequel, Uncharted: Golden Abyss, was released for Sony's PlayStation Vita handheld system in 2011, followed by the card game spin-off Uncharted: Fight for Fortune in 2012. A standalone game to the series, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, was released in 2017, with Chloe Frazer as the game's playable protagonist. The series has been universally acclaimed and commercially successful, having shipped more than 41 million units, making it one of the best-selling video game franchises of all time. The main series has been widely credited by critics and video game publications for raising the standards of single-player video games, praising it for high production values, quality in storytelling, character design and animation, voice acting, realistic graphics, technical innovation, musical score, gameplay mechanics, and delivering an enjoyable cinematic gaming experience to players. The series has often been likened to Hollywood-produced action adventure films. This fandom on the other hand has become toxic to the point that it's mystery must be uncovered.
Oh Crap! Why They're Toxic
Let's start things off with the basics, if they were to see other people point out a bad quality on one of the games (even if it's the tiniest), they get quick to anger. This is proof that they cannot tolerate negative criticism.
One case that this has happened when AngryJoeShow gave Uncharted 4 a 9/10, the fans started to get mad at him despite the fact that Joe still liked the game.
Another example is when The Washington Post gave Uncharted 4 a 4/10. Yes, it was a objectively bad review, but they went as far as getting the author fired, or write this petition. A good reason why you should never take critics too seriously!
They also dislike-bombed Gamespot's review for Uncharted 3. Immaturity at its finest and we are not joking.
The Tom Holland Hatedom is still present in this fandom simply because Tom Holland is set to play as Nathan Drake in an Uncharted film adaptation which would be released on October 8 of 2021 in the United States.
When it was announced that Mark Wahlberg is set to play as Victor Sullivan in the 2021 Uncharted movie, they think that the movie is going to suck despite that the film is not out yet. How do you know a movie will be awful if it's not out yet.
Since we do mention Mark Wahlberg and Tom Holland, they tried to force the crew to get replacements for the said actors. What werethey thinking?
Since some Uncharted games have online multiplayer, it's pretty easy to spot some trolls in online play (no kidding). Do us a favor and simply look at the Uncharted online trolls on YouTube.
They complained about Uncharted 2 and 3's online multiplayer being discontinued like it was The Great Depression. They went as far as making these petitions.
They try to force Sony and Naughty Dog to make Uncharted: Golden Abyss remastered. Even petitions are involved as well. Just look at these Google search or the Lost Legacy launch trailer.
Some wanted Nathan Drake himself to replace Chloe Frazer just because they freaked out that Chloe was being the protagonist of The Lost Legacy instead of Nathan. Oh come on, they literally forgot that Nathan is a retired fortune hunter as of Uncharted 4. Please, just move on we're begging you.
When Nathan Drake lost to Lara Croft (Tomb Raider) in a Death Battle, they started to lose their cool like it was 9/11 all over again. How typical for Death Battle viewers!
Speaking of Tomb Raider, looking up Nathan vs. Lara or Uncharted vs. Tomb Raider will result in both fandoms starting to have some bad blood against each other (what we mean by bad blood, we mean like a heated warfare against both franchises).
Elena Fisher and Chloe Frazer fanboys (mainly Elena). What else is there to say? Besides, Elena is already married to Nathan. This also applies to Nathan Drake fangirls as well (though not as widespread as the Elena Fisher fanboys).
Overusage of Nathan's "crap" quotes which will get aggravating for a while. This also applies to other quotes from the games as well such as "Kitty Got Wet", "you asswipe, gimmie your lighter", "Oh my god, you're serious", and "Three Goddamn Bullets".
Not even Uncharted is safe from many of the fans going into shipping crusades involving Nathan x Elena or Nathan x Chloe. No joke, we have the comments to prove it. Though Nathan did unite in wedlock with Elena as of Uncharted 4.
Speaking of Elena, the Chloe fanboys and the Elena fanboys would sometimes get into a blitz over who is the best girl. Yep, those are the same fanboys who cannot indulge in different positions.
Rare, but some can never shut up about an Uncharted game starring Samuel "Sam" Drake or Victor "Sully" Sullivan. Even though Sam still is present in The Lost legacy and Sully retired from the treasure hunting business.
Some fans even ignore age ratings of the game series when the entire series is rated T for Teen. That's like saying you let a non-teenager play Call of Duty, Fortnite, or GTA. A good reason why you should never ignore age ratings. Even though parents letting their children play such games isn't necessarily a bad thing. However, parents who allow their children to play such games should come with supervision and they should be aware of how their children react to certain mental stimuli and should do research into the games they're purchasing for them.
Like the God of War Fandom, they still show bitterness to Microsoft fans as well. We bet you saw that coming since Uncharted is a Sony franchise after all.
Some show goodwill towards the Tomb Raider fans and the Microsoft fans
Some fans are wise enough to manage negative criticism towards the series.
Some are fine with the changes the series and how the series is doing.
Some do enjoy The Lost Legacy. If not, they may have good judgements about why they never really like this game
Some give the upcoming movie a chance. Though they may be right about some video game movies being bad (some actually did good/decent such as Sonic 2020, Detective Pikachu, The Angry Birds Movie, etc).
At least they do have good criticism towards Gamespot.
